What criteria did we use to select the best PC games?

If we ask 100 gamers what are the best games for PC, it is possible to get 110 different answers. For better or worse, the definition of “best” is largely subjective.

To avoid this reef as much as possible, we based our choice solely on the score that each game has collected on the well-known Metacritic website.

In case you did not know it, it is a service that gathers reviews from the most authoritative game reviewers on the internet. From them comes a unique “Metascore”, based on the Metacritic algorithm .

Certainly this method is not perfect, as it can not predict our personal taste. But it is the best method we have at the moment.

The top five AAA games for PC

AAA titles usually catch the eye, mainly because they are usually accompanied by extensive marketing campaigns and constant promotion worth millions of dollars.

However, no matter how many AAA games were released this year, the following five are the best PC games of 2020, according to critics.

Monster Hunter: World

Forza Horizon 4

Forza Horizon 4 is the best title in the franchise, and one of the best PC games of 2020.

The latest title of Microsoft racing game takes place in an alternative version of England.

The seasons, where each of them lasts a week, made their debut in Forza Horizon 4. The seasons affect both the game environment and the handling of vehicles.

For example, during the winter the lakes freeze, while in the summer the rivers dry up. At the same time, in winter there is ice on the road which makes it even more difficult to operate the car.

In Forza Horizon 4, we are on the same server with 71 other players. We all travel on the same map, experience exactly the same weather conditions, and compete with each other.

The game allows us to create our own games, in which the other players on the server can participate. Finally, we can play Forza Horizon 4 without an internet connection.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Assassin’s Creed is a series of action games, the latest title of which is Odyssey.

At Assassin’s Creed Odyssey we are in Greece of 431 BC, during the Peloponnesian War.

At Odyssey, designers used rich colors. They believe that a country built by the gods would not be just white and gold. In this way, they combined historical accuracy with a striking color palette.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey map is the largest we’ve seen so far in the franchise. It is full of mountains, seas, forests, and has a complete weather system.

In the war part, we will find interesting fighting mechanisms, which are complemented by a skill tree. Also, a special element are the naval battles, in which we take part with our own ship.

Finally, the game has strong RPG elements, giving us the ability to choose a character, develop love affairs, and make important decisions.

HITMAN 2

It was impossible not to include HITMAN 2 in the list of the best games of 2020. And that’s because it has it all, incredible graphics, perfect gameplay, and plenty of mode.

As in any HITMAN game, we are Agent 47, a paid assassin who travels the world and performs high-profile targets.

To eliminate our targets, we use weapons, elements from the environment around us, various distraction techniques, gadgets, and more.

In HITMAN 2, we cross the five continents completing a series of six missions that reveal the truth about our past.

Finally, in the collection of modes of HITMAN 2 we will find: Sniper Assassin, Ghost Mode, and Elusive Targets.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

The five best indie games for PC

Independent games do not have a budget of millions for creation and subsequent marketing. Often an indie game is created by a small team, or even a developer on their own.

This, however, in no way makes them automatically inferior to AAA titles. History has shown that there are indie games that are truly masterpieces. These are the five best indie PC games of 2020.

Dead Cells

One of the best PC games of this year is Dead Cells. In this game, we manipulate a set of cells that control a decapitated corpse.

As we explore the game’s dungeons, we will need to fight monsters, discover hidden passages, and collect various goods.

The currency of the game is cells. At the end of each level we spend the cells we have collected, to buy various upgrades, which play a key role in unlocking new paths.

Our death is one of the key elements of Dead Cells. Every time we die, the island we are on changes shape.
